1st of all: I don't have a crystal ball so I have to look at what happened in the past and some fundamentals to guess the price and the movements of ETH in the next couple of years.
2 years ago, ETH was only 190 USD and it currently sits around 3K$. That is a +/- a 2,000% increase in the past 2 years.
So looking at this year, because of the massive software upgrade that is happening, in my opinion, ETH will continue to grow but we might see big up and down volatility when the software upgrade happens. This volatility will come from speculators and people taking profits from their ETH 2 validator nodes that locked 32 ETH. I expect that dumps will continue for a few weeks and then when the price will settle down, we might see a return with ETH reaching new ATH in the second half of this year, ending the year around 6,000 USD. This is great news for Sorare as it would give them another year to evolve and use ETH as the game currency.
It's a little bit hard to think about what can happen in 2023 but if I had to guess, I would say that if the Ethereum upgrade is successful, we would see a massive adoption in the number of the Ethereum blockchain ecosystem users and the ETH price could rise as much as up to 15k USD by the end of 2023. If this does happen, Sorare would have a big decision to make: do they continue using ETH as the game currency, or do they switch to a Sorare token or stable tokens to target the global mass market.
